Shropshire U15s V Huntingdonshire U15s
Langtons CC 25th August 2009
Hunts were outclassed by what Dave and I considered to be one of the best teams we have seen at this age group. After loosing the toss, Hunts started well having Shropshire 8 for 2 in the 3rd over with Joe Dawborn on a hat-rick. Shropshire grafted to re-build their innings with some no risk cricket, which included some fantastic running between the wickets which put huge pressure on the Hunts fielders. Shropshire’s J. Hudson-Williams going on to make 105 out of a score of 300 for 9 in their 50 overs.

ECB County Championship Division Winners - Semi Final
Huntingdonshire U15s V Wiltshire U15s
Nassington CC 14th August 2009
Huntingdonshire lost the toss and were put in to bat on what looked like a green wicket. Having played most of my cricket at Nassington you get to know the wicket, if it looks green you think about bowling then you think again and bat!! Obviously the opposition thought the wicket was going to do all sorts. At 50 for no loss after 15 overs Hunts looked like they were on for a big score but the loss of both the openers Rob Lowin (21) and Dan Robinson (24) in consecutive overs slowed proceedings. All the batsmen seemed to get starts but again no one capitalised, at 136 for 6 and with only 10 overs left it looked like Hunts would not even get to 200. But a match winning 7th wicket stand of 58 between Joe Dawborn (34) and Dan Malem (21) and some poor Wiltshire fielding and bowling (37 extras) put Hunts back on track. Hunts finishing on 201 for 10, loosing the last wicket on the last ball of the 50th over.
Wiltshire got off to a slow start 28 for 1 after 10 overs, but with a asking rate of only 4 runs per over wickets in hand would be the key. At 100 for 2 in the 24th over Wiltshire were cruising but the introduction of Jack Skidmore to the attack changed the game. The Wiltshire batsmen seemed to want to hit Jack’s big leggies against the spin towards the short boundary. C Miles Wiltshire’s England player being a prime culprit lobbing the ball to Joe Dawborn at short extra. With Wiltshire wanting to throw their wickets away Hunts were on the up! suddenly Wiltshire were 142 for 9 Jack Skidmor picking up 2 wickets in his last over to finish with figures of 5 for 38 in his 10 overs. With Dan Malem picking up the last wicket with a simple c&b the game was over in the 41st over.

Hunts in play off!!
Berkshire U15’s V Huntingdonshire U15s
Berkshire U15’s V Huntingdonshire U15s
Slough Cricket Club 22nd July 2009
With a required rate of only 3 runs per over Hunts had to get early wickets. Jack Skidmore provided the breakthrough but by then Berkshire had 30 runs on the board. At 85 for 2 in the 25th over it looked like the game was slipping away for Hunts, but a poor shot by J Elias (32) of the bowling of Dan Malem let Hunts in to the game. The spin twins Malem and Prime kept chipping away at the Berkshire batters picking up wickets at crucial times. At 146 for 6, Berkshie only needed 20 runs off the last 7 overs, but a diving catch and a direct hit run out by Dan Robinson fielding at mid-on saw Berkshire hit the panic button. Dan Malem picking up the last two wickets in his 13 over, the last being a great leg side catch by Josh Bowers. Malem finishing with his first 5 fer in county cricket to give Hunts a 9 run win.
What a great way to finish the season, great win!! top of the table and League Champions!!! Hope you all enjoyed the season. Thanks to Dave Summers and all who helped me with the scoring ect. especially Mr Lowin!

Haileybury College 5th July 09
Huntingdonshire won the toss and elected to bat on what looked like a road of a track in the fantastic surroundings of Haileybury College. Again Hunts started badly with Dan Robinson departing 4th ball of Sayf Ali Khan first over. With a run up twice the length of a cricket track, Ali Khan was Herts key bowler he bowled with good pace and intelligence taking 2 for 11 in his opening spell. Hunts were reduced to 49 for 4 in the 23rd over with some good tight bowling by Herts. Captain Joe Dawborn and the new vice-captain Dan Malem (in the absence of Callum Hale - out injured) took the attack to Herts batting with good intelligence they managed to push the score past the 100 mark. Unfortunatley the lunch break came at the wrong time, the momentum which Hunts had built up was lost with the loss of the Dan Malem (39) and Joe Dawborn (21) immediately after the break. At 110 for 6 and 39 overs gone, it was “Prime Time” - Batting for 45 balls and with good support from James Trafford (23) and Jack Skidmore (11*), Jack Prime (18) and his partners saw Hunts reach a respectable total of 175 for 9 in 57 overs.
Hunts got off to a great start the opening bowlers each bagging a wickets and with Mr Prime joining in with a wicket maiden in his first over Herts were 23 for 3 and the target of 175 looked a long way off. Prime continued to bowl well taking 3 for 39 in his 14 overs but the pick of the bowlers was Dan Malem, who finished with figures of 3 for 17 in 11 overs as Herts just held on for a draw. (Herts 132 for 8).

Huntingdonshire U15s V Buckinghamshire U15s
Eaton Socon CC 2nd July 09
ECB U15s County Championship
Huntingdonshire lost the toss and to their surprise were put in to bat on a hot humid day at Eaton Socon. Hunts again got off to a bad start with Rob Lowin getting a peach of a ball and Callum Hale also departing early. At 14 for 2 Daniel Robinson and Daniel Bandaranaike set about rebuilding the innings. With Daniel Bandaranaike departing for 24 in the 14th over it was left to Dan Robinson to glue the innings together, he got good support from Joe Dawborn and Dan Malem each getting 33. Robinson was eventually out for 82, batting for over 50 overs in the heat to give Hunts a respectable total of 238 for 10 in their 57 overs.
With 48 overs to get Hunts total Bucks got off to a slow start, it looked like they were playing for a draw, but the Hunts spinners played their part prizing out 3 quick wickets. At 132 for 3 in the 30th over Bucks looked in command but James Trafford second spell changed the game Trafford picking up 3 for 8 runs in 3 over, with Jack Skidmore also taking a wicket at the other end Bucks were suddenly 135 for 7. With the smell of victory Joe Dawborn took up the challenge grabbing the ball and taking a wicket in his second over, Bucks were now 8 down with only 4 overs left. You could see this game going down to the wire. It did, Hunts taking the last wicket with the last ball of the innings to claim their first victory of the season, a reaction catch by Callum Hale at silly mid off, off the bowling of Joe Dawborn.
Well done to all the boys!!!
