Northamptonshire U15s V Huntingdonshire U15s
Rushden Cricket Club 28th May 2009
(Cup 50 overs per side)
Hunts opening bowlers were very unlucky not to pick up early wickets as they constantly beat the bat, James Trafford did pick up the one of the Northants openers in his 5th over but by then Northants were 34 runs to the good. An inspired change by Joe Dawborn giving debutant Jack Skidmore the ball in the 10th over tied things up for Hunts, with pressure at both ends Hunts took 2 quick wickets, reducing Northants to 73 for 3. The Northants innings was held together by their Captain N. Castleman, who went on to score 78 not out. Hunts were briefly in the game when again 2 quick wickets fell either side of the drinks interval. Northants finished on 174 for 5 in the 39th over. Again good team spirit, but we need to start batting as a unit, overall the fielding was better but those 30 runs would have made a big difference. Well done to Callum Hale and debutant Jack Skidmore who finished with figures of 8 over’s 1 for 36.
